We serve those in need of medical, vision and dental care.
Here in Louisville we collect both new and used wheelchairs , walkers, canes and crutches and partner with Mission Mobility to ship these to Bethel Ministries in Guatemala. We provide financial resources and manpower to distribute wheelchairs to those who have been found in greatest need through Bethel.
We provide dental supplies and dental care to those served through Bethel Ministries and Village of Hope Orphanage. Our dental clinics are set up alongside the wheelchair distributions but also in remote villages where we visit those behind closed doors in great need of food, clothing and education.
Each one of the sponsored eye care kits contains 400 pair of prescription glasses. We purchase these kits from MPower, a Louisville based ministry. Local Guatemalans are trained by our vision team to test children and adults in hopes to give the best sight possible. Reading glasses are distributed as needed to assist with education and sunglasses are given as protection from open fire cooking.
Basic medical care is offered at our wheelchair distributions. One of the greatest medical needs is wound care and wound care prevention. Our nurses supply families with training and wound care supplies to prevent pressure sores which can lead to much more serious problems, including amputations. Our nurses use wound care kits purchased through MPower and train a sponsored nursing student to assist with this care.
